Cottage Food Act Resources
To sell your product for wholesale or retail or to operate a catering or food truck business, you will need to operate out of a commercial kitchen. Many new food business rent space at a commissary kitchen.
This is a shared commercial kitchen where you produce the product. You may also need to rent dry storage, cooler space and freezer depending on your product and business type. You cannot store ingredients or product at your home or in a vehicle. To work out of a commissary kitchen, you will need to have a signed commissary agreement that is a part of your state wholesale or county retail license application packet.
In addition to the kitchens below, may churches and other community facilities have licensed kitchens. Restaurants also have commercial kitchens that they may be willing to let you rent. You are welcome to approach them directly if you have connections.
